Bridal guide · makeup trials

How to get the most from your bridal makeup trial.

Your trial is a working session, not a test you can pass or fail. It is time to explore the details, make thoughtful adjustments and settle on a look that feels right before the wedding morning.

01 / Before the trial

Bring direction, not a finished specification.

Save a small number of makeup references that show what you are drawn to. They do not need to feature someone with exactly your colouring or face shape. The useful part is identifying the finish, definition and overall mood you like.

It also helps to bring or share references for your dress, hairstyle, accessories and flowers. Together they show the wider visual context without forcing every element to match.

02 / Useful details

What to have ready.

  • 01

    A few reference images

Choose looks you genuinely like and be ready to explain which details caught your attention.

  • 02

    Your usual makeup

Tell Abby what you normally wear, what makes you feel most like yourself and anything you prefer to avoid.

  • 03

    The wider wedding look

Dress, hair, jewellery, flowers and venue references help place the makeup within the full day.

  • 04

    Honest feedback

Say what feels right and what does not. Small, specific adjustments are exactly what the trial is for.

03 / During the trial

Look at the whole effect, then refine the details.

Give yourself a moment to take in the finished look before focusing on individual features. Check it in natural light where possible and take photographs from more than one angle.

Notice how the makeup feels as well as how it looks. The final choice should give you confidence, remain recognisably yours and fit comfortably with the rest of the wedding.

04 / After the trial

Live with the look for a little while.

If your schedule allows, keep the makeup on and observe it in different light. Make a short note of anything you want to remember, then share clear feedback rather than trying to redesign the look on your own. Abby can use those observations when preparing for the wedding day.
